However, this law has been suddenly changed and tightened recently. A travel company has announced that it is advising customers not to bring vapes and related devices to Thailand , because currently, the penalty for both citizens and tourists when possessing, importing and using e-cigarettes in public places, in addition to confiscation of the device, will face a huge fine or 10 years in prison.
And perhaps because he did not know or did not research this information, a Vietnamese vaper had to suffer the loss of both money and health below.
According to the information shared, this vaper came to Pattaya city for his honeymoon, visited a cafe that allowed smoking and vaping there. He was caught by Thai police, not only confiscated the device, the police also "invited" him to the police station to drink water for 20 hours.
Fortunately, this vaper has a friend who lives in Thailand, so he was released after his friend bailed him out and paid 100,000 baht (70 million VND). Thai police asked him to return to Thailand two months later for trial and pay another 50,000 baht (35 million VND), otherwise he would be banned from entering the country forever.
