Vaping and Health - What You Need to Know About Nicotine

There are actually a lot of misconceptions about nicotine . People seem to think that the primary reason to attack e-cigarettes rather than support them is because they contain nicotine, as I mentioned above, but in fact, nicotine is the least dangerous ingredient in the liquid.

Vaping and health: What you need to know about nicotine.

If I had to talk about a compound contained in vaporizers, vapes or electronic cigarettes that vapers often mention the most, I would dare to affirm that it is nicotine.

There are actually a lot of misconceptions about nicotine. People seem to think that the primary reason to bash e-cigarettes rather than support them is because they contain nicotine, as I mentioned above, but nicotine is actually the least dangerous ingredient in the liquid. They think that nicotine is the only reason vaping is addictive, but science can prove them wrong.

"Inhaling cigarette smoke damages your lungs whether it contains nicotine or not"

Wood smoke is many times more harmful to your health than cigarette smoke. The EPA estimates that the risk of cancer from wood smoke is 12 times greater than that from an equivalent amount of cigarette smoke. How is this possible when wood contains no nicotine? There is a simple answer: Nicotine in cigarettes does not affect cancer risk, because nicotine is not a carcinogen.

There has been some debate about the claim that nicotine can promote the growth of existing tumors, but animal studies using doses of nicotine equivalent to those used by average humans have shown that the tumors do not change in number of cells, size, or rate of metastasis.

Nicotine is not harmful in “recreational” doses.

Evidence suggests that recreational nicotine consumption from cigarettes, gum, and e-cigarettes does not cause significant harm. While some animal studies have shown that pregnant women, adolescents, and cancer patients should avoid nicotine, we have no reason to believe that regular use has a significant impact on the health of healthy adults. It does have some mild effects on blood pressure and heart rate, similar to the euphoria you get when you wake up with a steaming cup of coffee, so I recommend consulting your doctor about stimulant use if you have signs of cardiovascular disease.

Nicotine is not that addictive…

Generally speaking, nicotine has a rather weak effect. Yes, that’s right. Yet people around the world still believe that nicotine is the most convincing reason why smoking is addictive, when in fact, it’s much more complicated than that.
