7 Ways You Can Extend Your E-Cigarette Battery Life

In the past, most battery-powered devices required 6 or 8 AA, C, or D batteries, and they didn’t last very long. It felt like you had to change the batteries every hour or two.

Not only is this unnecessary, it’s also wasteful. These batteries also contain chemicals that are harmful to the environment.

But times have changed, and so has technology.

Today's batteries, especially lithium polymer batteries, last much longer than the disposable batteries of the past. They can be recharged via a charger or USB cable, which means you can reuse them over and over again.

While the Lithium batteries we commonly use in starter kits are long-lasting and rechargeable, they eventually wear out and need to be replaced. And while it’s true that e-cigarette batteries aren’t that expensive, they can still add up to a significant amount of your overall cost.

Of course, there are a number of ways to help you get the most out of your e-cigarette batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries can be recharged and reused many times before they completely wear out. In theory, a Lithium-ion battery can be recharged 200-250 times maximum. Some can be recharged up to 400 times before needing to be replaced, meaning that with proper maintenance, you can extend the life of your battery significantly.

Doing all, or one of the 7 ways below will help you extend the battery life of your e-cigarette.

1. Regular use of batteries

Just as you should exercise regularly, e-cigarette batteries benefit from regular use. The more you use them, the more electricity flows through the battery. The lithium-ion batteries in e-cigarettes are designed to be used frequently, which is why they are also commonly used in cell phone batteries.

2. Pay attention to where you store your batteries.

Although this is a very obvious thing, sometimes we accidentally do not think about some things that can damage our devices. For e-cigarette batteries, being exposed to direct sunlight or near a heat source can greatly affect the battery life. And we also know that electricity and water do not mix, so remember to keep your battery away from damp places. You also have to pay attention to physical impacts and avoid your battery being hit hard or dropped from too high a place.

3. Replace e-cigarette batteries before they are completely drained.

This is why vapers keep multiple spare batteries for their e-cigarette devices. Using them until they are completely drained before charging them can cause the battery life to decrease very quickly. It is best to charge them when you feel the battery power is getting low.

You can compare an e-cigarette battery to a train, a slow moving train will be easier to accelerate than a train that is stopped at a station and starts moving. Likewise, an e-cigarette battery that still has some power will charge faster than one that is completely dead.

4. Don't store your battery if it's only half charged.

Any batteries that you charge and store for future use should be fully charged. Storing batteries that are half-charged or less will drain them faster when you use them. Just like draining a battery before charging it, your e-cigarette battery will have to work harder to provide the power your device needs. The harder it is forced to work, the shorter its life will be.

5. Remove the burner from the appliance when not in use.

This is only necessary when you are not using your e-cigarette for a long time. When the atomizer (containing the coil and e-liquid ) is connected to the battery, the e-liquid will always burn a little bit even when you are not using it. That is why removing the atomizer from the device will increase the interval between charges, which increases the number of charges and the time until you need to replace the battery.

6. Immediately remove the battery from the charger when it is full.

Once your battery is fully charged, unplug it from the charger immediately. This will ensure that you don’t accidentally overcharge the battery, which can overcharge your device and shorten its lifespan. This doesn’t apply to new batteries that are being charged for the first time, so you should charge them for an additional hour or so.

7. Keep the threaded connection from your burner to the battery clean

Another thing you need to do is remember to clean the connection between the battery and the burner. Over time, the connection can get dirty or wet, causing damage to the battery. Use a cotton pad and tweezers to regularly clean the screw thread and connection between the battery and the burner.

All of the above methods apply to both automatic and manual batteries. And there are some methods that apply specifically to one type of battery.

Automatic battery, remove the burner from the battery when you are done using it or want to store the machine. Leaving the battery and burner connected when not in use will cause the battery to drain faster.

Manual battery, make sure you don't press too hard on the button on the battery, this will cause the button to get stuck or retract all the way inside.
