What is RDTA?

Today’s topic is RDTA , which stands for rebuildable dripping tank atomizer. If you’re new to vaping, you probably don’t know what that term means, and to be honest, there are a lot of vapers out there who still don’t know what an RDTA is. Let’s take a few minutes to define what an RDTA is, why they exist, and maybe give you some examples of the most “expensive” RDTAs on the market.

What is RDTA?

Nearly two years ago, the atomizer market was pretty lackluster. The products available weren’t bad, but vapers back then wanted more, just like we do now. Atomizers had larger airflow holes for more cloud, larger tanks for more juice, and by the time sub ohm tanks came out, most people had already switched to RDAs. When sub ohm tanks hit the market, as expected, they had larger airflow holes, and a pretty convenient build deck, allowing vapers to use factory coils or roll their own.

While the concept of RDTAs is not new, it took the development of the RDA and RTA tanks to produce the powerful products we see today. For an atomizer to be considered an RDTA, it needs to satisfy the following conditions:

- Has a build base similar to the RDA build base.

- Has RTA essential oil chamber

- Do not accept pre-made coils from the manufacturer

So it can be said that if you like to build your own coils on special build bases, but at the same time don't want to constantly refill e-juice after a few puffs, the RDTA is the most ideal choice.

Two most typical RDTA burners

1. Sigelei Moonshot

The first thing to note is that Suprimo has designed the Moonshot to be a “little monster” in both performance and appearance. The Moonshot is only 42mm tall and has a diameter of 24mm. The Moonshot is made of durable SS304 and Pyrex glass. The e-juice tank has a capacity of 3ml.

When you disassemble the Moonshot, you will find a Velocity 2-pin build deck with 2.5mm coil holes, allowing you to install any coil type and wire gauge you want. The Moonshot can be used with single or dual coils.

With large, adjustable dual airflow ports located at the base, the Moonshot can function as a high-end Sub ohm tank, while the large juice chamber ensures you won't suffer from sudden dry hits unless you're really out of juice.

2. Geek Vape Avocado 24

If you’re looking for a larger capacity RDTA, Geek Vape’s Avocado is the answer. The 24 in the Avocado’s name comes from its 24mm diameter, and the Avocado is made from stainless steel using the Genesis mechanism.

The RDTA looks a lot like an RDA. Open the top cover and you’ll find a dual-pin Velocity build system. Geek Vape has added a separate ceramic lock for vapers who prefer single coils, which locks one side of the build deck.
