The most recent statistics from PHE (Public Health England) show that vaping is a popular tool for quitting smoking, with 27.2% of people having used a vaping product during their quitting process, once again reinforcing the argument that “vaping is safer than smoking”.
Additionally, the highest quit rate (74%) was seen when people used licensed prescription medications and vaping products.
However, a growing segment of the population believes that vaping is as harmful or even more harmful than traditional cigarettes – which contradicts PHE's claim that vaping is 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes.
TRUTH
Public Health England says misinformation around vaping is preventing smokers from switching to a less harmful alternative.
They firmly believe that smokers should know the facts about switching to vaping as a smoking cessation tool and support Dinner Lady’s annual VApril campaign – which takes the UK vaping industry by storm to promote the benefits and help people make informed decisions.
According to statistics cited by the VApril group, the UK has around 3 million vapers who used to smoke, and a One Poll study of 2,000 adults found that around 72% were aware of the campaign, which VApril has encouraged them to change.
VApril wants to support and inspire, and provide resources and vape products to retail partners to reduce tobacco harm and change customers' tobacco habits.
