Vaping etiquette is getting a lot of attention these days, with many people still divided on where and when it’s appropriate to vape. And weddings are no exception.

The wedding season is here, and with it comes the question of “can I vape at my wedding?”. Take advice from vapers and wedding experts to learn more about vaping etiquette and how to choose the right device and e-juice for your big day.

Where should you vape at a wedding?

Just like smoking, vaping should be done outdoors. Feel free to vape outside at the party venue. Just be careful not to ruin the wedding photos by accidentally blowing smoke on the happy couple.

But if the wedding is held indoors, it's different. For places like restaurants, it's usually up to the restaurant owner to set up a separate area for guests to vape on the premises. But when combined with wedding customs, the issue is a bit more complicated. Reddit members have shared some tips, such as not vaping in a non-smoking area, being polite to those around you, and asking the bride and groom. One Reddit member commented.

“It’s acceptable when it’s acceptable. That’s the only answer. You definitely don’t want to be smoking during the reception and during the ceremony. You should be separated when vaping if the venue has a vaping area. Also ask the bride and groom. At my wedding last June, the venue allowed vaping, which was great for the guests.”

After asking vapers, we asked the wedding experts for their opinion, Kate Thompson a wedding expert at Confetti, the UK's leading wedding website, added:

“I think guests attending indoor weddings should ask the staff and other guests at their table if they should vape. Although vaping is different from smoking, it is still polite to ask first.”

Wedding equipment and essential oils

Now that you know where to vape at your wedding, the next step is how to do it in style. Vaped content strategist Brett Janes says:

“It depends on where the wedding is being held, if it is indoors it is best not to vape unless it is your wedding or you have received consent from the bride or groom.

If it’s an outdoor wedding, you’ll want to choose a compact device with moderate power so that you don’t vape too obviously. Kids and adults don’t like having a big cloud of smoke blown in their faces. Depending on how much you want to hide, some starter kits can be a good choice. For example, the CuAIO is quite compact and has moderate power.”

“As for essential oils, since weddings can last quite a long time, choose light and refreshing scents such as lemon and mint. Fruity scents such as strawberry or pineapple are also good choices. However, remember to avoid strong cake or cream flavors as these tend to have very strong scents.”
